The Sarasota Ballet
The Sarasota Ballet is the Gulf Coast of Florida’s first and only professional ballet company.
Under the Direction of Iain Webb, The Sarasota Ballet has expanded its repertoire to include works by world renowned choreographers such as Sir Frederick Ashton, Dame Ninette de Valois, Antony Tudor, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Robert North, John Cranko, Hans van Manen, Andre Prokovsky, Matthew Bourne and Dominic Walsh.
Recently, New York Times dance and theatere critic, Alastair Macaulay, noted “...The Sarasota Ballet (in its 18th year, and directed since 2007 by Iain Webb) has suddenly become America’s foremost exponent of Ashton ballets.”
The Sarasota Ballet School, affiliated with the professional Sarasota Ballet Company, soaffiliated on Florida’s West Coast. The School provides professional ballet instruction for students of all ages, including the Children’s Division (ages 3-7), the Lower Division (ages 8 and up), the Upper Division (ages 11 and up) and the Adult Division. The Upper Division feeds into the Trainee Program, which allows selected students to train and rehearse with the Company. The School also has a Student Performing Group and opportunities to perform in company productions with at least one annual School production.
